| So I've decided finding a fairly big uh-oh on the front page you designed is not the best way to start out a birthday. I'm hoping if I go to bed now, when I wake up I can start the day over and actually have a good day. Maybe. At least I'll get to see my famiy and go out to eat and eat yellow cake with chocolate icing and decorate two Christmas trees (my parents' and my Grammy's). Or maybe I'll just decorate one and leave the other one for Thursday so I can spread out the fun a little longer. That's one good thing about having a December birthday — you can mix Christmas trees into your celebration. | | |
| I just got back from seeing "Walk the Line." I'm no movie expert, but I thought it was an excellent film. And not just because my dear friend Jessie Harris was an extra, and I got to see her quite clearly in one scene. I liked it so much I might even give Johnny Cash's music another chance, even though when Zach made me listen to him in college, I said he sounded like death warmed over (this was before he died). Anyway, I'm rambling, so I should go to bed. But y'all should see the movie if you haven't already. | | |
| I just got back today from a wonderful (but exhausting) Thanksgiving break. It was wonderful because I got to see everyone in my family except my cousin Daniel, who had to work, and my cousin Laura, who is overseas. But I’ll get to see them both at Christmas. It was exhausting because while I was home I did the following:
Helped my mom cook casseroles, pies and boiled custard for 20 people and sausage balls for my family.
Drove my mother all over Memphis every day since she’s hurt her foot and isn’t supposed to drive. (I even took her downtown, which made only the third time ever that I’ve driven in downtown Memphis, even though I lived there all my life until I went to college.)
Ran errands for my mom and did laundry for my family.
Helped my sister and brother clean and organize their rooms, which was quite a task since my sister is pretty much a slob and my brother is a boy who seems to think cleaning is for girls.
Spent an average of eight hours a day for four days looking after my 3-year-old cousin Andrew from Atlanta. For some reason, he’s just crazy about me and has to be with me every waking moment, which is very flattering. However, he has a lot more energy than I do, so keeping up with him wore me out. I didn’t really mind, though, because I love him dearly and I wish I could take him home with me. He has all my favorite qualities in a boy — he’s sweet, fun, smart, cute and best of all, he thinks I’m just about perfect.
Looking over this list, I’ve realized I’ve been awfully domestic this week. The weird thing is, I’ve really enjoyed it. Maybe I’m more of a girly girl than I thought I was.
| I was tagged a couple of weeks ago and haven’t posted since then. So here goes…
Ground Rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "five weird habits of yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a xanga entry about their five weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next five people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "You are tagged" in their xanga and tell them to read yours.
1. When I watch a movie, I have to watch it from beginning to end in one sitting. I hate coming in late to a movie or missing the end. Even if it’s a really awful movie, I have to sit through the whole thing. This quirk is the only reason I wasted an hour and a half of my life watching “The New Guy.” 2. I’ll eat sandwiches from just about any deli or restaurant you can think of, but I don’t like the sandwich bread they sell at the grocery store, except if it’s toasted. 3. I can’t sleep through the night without waking up at least once, usually more than that, if I’m at my apartment. But I sleep through the night other places, like my grandmother’s house, my parent’s house (even if I sleep on the broken couch) and the floors of other people’s apartments. The weird thing is, until a couple of years ago, I was able to sleep through the night only if I was in my own bed at home. 4. I hate to eat by myself so much that most of the time I’d rather skip a meal than eat alone. But I have exceptions to this rule: It’s okay to eat alone if I’m in my car or at my desk at work. And I don’t mind eating snacks alone, as long as it’s not a full meal. 5. I don’t go to Wal-Mart by myself at night. Period.
I tag unionspot, tricia528, bradmoore310, mbnewman and southern_goin_west.
Also, a word to the wise: "Seven" is a good movie, but it's probably best not to watch it if you're a girl by yourself late at night right before you go to bed. At least, it's not a good idea if you actually want to sleep at night.
Have y'all ever thought the "currently watching" deal is kind of dumb? Because usually you're not currently watching that movie at the very moment you post. Or maybe everyone else is watching movies and they're on xanga at the same time, and I'm the only dumb one that can't type while I watch a movie.
